Less than two months before the first round of the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron continues to kick in touch with the announcement of his possible candidacy.

This time, it was with a little quip that the president evaded questions from journalists on board his plane between Moscow and Kiev.

"I'll have to think about it at some point," he told them with humor.

The international crisis "takes up more than half of my time, even most of it in recent days", he added more seriously as he has been playing mediator between Russia and Ukraine for several days.

By placing himself very far from the presidential campaign in France, only two months from the first round.

“There on this question there is a sufficiently strong tension (…), we must not do untimely things, we must do them at the right time”, he added smiling.

No mood for the other candidates

By showing that he favors his role as chief diplomat, Emmanuel Macron thus places himself above his rivals, forced to wait for his entry into the running for 2022. "I have no moods", he insisted, emphasizing the consequences that the outbreak of a conflict between Russians and Ukrainians would have on other countries, including France.

This major international tour, perhaps the last of the five-year term, was to end Tuesday evening in Berlin, where Emmanuel Macron was to take stock of the Russian-Ukrainian file with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Polish President Andrzej Duda.
