France will lift the obligation of Covid-19 screening tests for all travelers from outside Europe who have been vaccinated, the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Clément Beaune, announced on Tuesday.

"In France, we added tests in December with the Omicron wave. We will announce in the coming days the lifting of tests for vaccinated people," he said on the France 2 channel.

The desire to avoid restrictions to pass holders

For the time being, any traveler entering French territory from a country outside the European area - including the United Kingdom - must present a negative PCR or antigen test within 48 hours, recalls the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website.

"There will undoubtedly be a new European practice this week so that vaccinated people who come from outside the European Union to the European Union will have lightened measures," added Clément Beaune.

The Twenty-Seven already agreed on January 25 to better coordinate the rules applicable to travel within the EU and to avoid imposing restrictions on holders of a European health certificate.

Several countries, including Italy and Denmark, require travelers, even vaccinated against Covid-19, to present negative tests to enter their territory.
