A motorist was arrested on Saturday in Chéraute (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) after a chase with the gendarmes.
This 35-year-old man had been convicted 25 times, including ten for traffic offenses and had just served a six-month prison sentence, reports

Placed under an electronic bracelet since his release last October, the thirties had just bought a car when he was arrested.
He denies driving the car
Originally from Oloron, he would have driven in the wrong direction in a roundabout and failed to overthrow pedestrians, before abandoning his vehicle.
He was driving without a driver's license and drunk.
Summoned to the Pau court, the man assured that he was not behind the wheel and that he was a mysterious "friend".
He will be tried on February 24 and has been placed in pre-trial detention pending.
