Daniel Svensson and Peter Iwers previously played in the band In Flames.

But six years ago, they changed course and started brewing beer instead.

Now they run the microbrewery Odd Island Brewing in Lindome, one of all the small breweries in Västra Götaland that will have to compete with the larger breweries when the price of beer is higher.

The price of barley malt has become more expensive due to poor harvests.

The price of aluminum has also increased.

Fuel prices that have skyrocketed also mean that delivery costs will be higher.

The result is that it now becomes more expensive to produce beer.

More expensive beer for the summer

According to Daniel Svensson, the increased production cost is not expected to reach consumers' wallets until the summer.

Beer produced on smaller breweries is already in the more expensive price range.

But Peter and Daniel hope that the strong interest in so-called craft beer continues and that people continue to buy from the smaller breweries.

- We hope that people continue to support their local producers, says Peter Iwers.

Systembolaget's press secretary confirms for SVT Nyheter Väst that beer will be more expensive for consumers when producers and suppliers need to raise prices.
