The corona infection process in Hesse remains unpleasantly brisk.

The health authorities reported 16,740 new positive PCR tests to the Robert Koch Institute overnight.

That's 3,600 fewer cases than the day before, but

more than twice as many as a week ago.

As a result, the seven-day incidence also continues to climb.

The increase is only slight: the statistics show 1,629 cases among 100,000 inhabitants within a week after 1,622 the day before.

This is a new high;

the average in the federal government is 1388. Seven days ago the incidence in Hesse was 1351. Since the beginning of the pandemic almost two years ago, this indicator has regularly resulted in more corona patients in clinics with a time lag.

Omicron dominates on Corona stations

According to the German Interdisciplinary Association for Emergency and Intensive Care Medicine, Hessian clinics are currently looking after 207 corona patients in intensive care units, 93 of whom therefore have to be artificially ventilated.

As the university clinic in Giessen and Marburg has announced, the omicron variant now accounts for around 100 percent of infections in the corona wards there.

The Frankfurt University Clinic made a similar statement.

After a steady increase, 1178 Covid patients were in normal wards in Hesse.

Eleven other deaths related to the pandemic are in the statistics for Hesse.

A week ago, the authorities reported two more deaths.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 8,880 people have officially died in this federal state from or with Covid-19.

The highest incidences in Hesse are still in Offenbach with 2417, Frankfurt with 2327 and Wiesbaden with 2291.

These three cities are among the eleven cities and regions with the highest indicators in Germany.

Mainz has 1,350. In Hesse, only the districts have fewer than 1,000

Limburg-Weilburg and Werra-Meißner;

the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg is now just above this mark after an increase.

The whole of Hesse forms a hotspot.

Because the incidence has been over 350 everywhere for more than three days. In this respect, special rules apply.

However, the country has announced that it will overturn the 2-G rule in retail.

This was preceded by a judgment won by a retailer in Hanau against 2 G in one of her shops.
