• Sexual abuse The PNV asks Pedro Sánchez to form a group of experts to investigate pederasty in the Church

La Salle has reported this Saturday that it has received in the last hours, coinciding with the public demonstrations of the writer Alejandro Palomas,

three new complaints of sexual abuse

that would have occurred in the 70-80s.

Two of them would have been registered in Galicia and the third, in Castilla y León.

In a statement, La Salle specifies that the

cases would have prescribed from a legal point of view

and would affect three religious of the congregation.

According to reports, the institution has immediately launched its internal procedure, in line with the steps taken in relation to

the writer's case and other previous ones in recent years

.

La Salle began to collect information and interview members of the educational community at that time.

La Salle claims that "it complies with its double legal and moral commitment" with the victims of these abuses, in line with the canonical procedure promoted by Pope Francis last year, "while maintaining respect for the

presumption of innocence

recognized in legislation, but clearly and expressly showing their request for forgiveness from the victims for the pain suffered".

CLARIFY "FULLY" THE FACTS

It adds that the objective of this procedure is always "to try to completely clarify the facts" and ensure "maximum transparency and speed in the investigation of these cases", seeking "the

direct testimony of the victim

and the full identification of the authors of the facts", which he sees as "despicable" and which "attempt against the most important rights of people and, especially, of children".

La Salle reports that it currently has an advanced 'Zero Tolerance' protocol (known as the 'Protocol in situations of

risk due to mistreatment or abuse

of minors') and a 'Code of Ethics'.

Both procedures seek --he maintains-- "to create a safe environment, ensuring the protection of students in any activity they currently carry out under the tutelage of their centers".

COMPLAINTS ADMITTED BY THE NATIONAL COURT

In recent years, the institution claims it has already transferred

different complaints

that have been admitted for processing by the National Court.

Likewise, he defends that he has appeared in criminal proceedings as a popular accusation, some of which "have ended in long

prison sentences

", the most recent cases being that of a professor at the Colegio Maravillas de Madrid in 2017 or that of a center of reception in Kenya in 2021.
