3 reasons to vaccinate your child against COVID-19

The Emirates Foundation for Health Services stressed the importance and necessity of vaccinating children in the specified age groups with the anti-Covid-19 vaccine, after health studies and research proved its safety and effectiveness, and its effective contribution to confronting the disease.

The Foundation identified three main reasons for children starting from the age of 5 years to receive the Corona vaccine, the first reason being that vaccination helps prevent children from developing severe symptoms even if they are infected with Covid-19.

The second reason is that vaccinating children can help protect family members, including unvaccinated siblings and family members who may be at greater risk of severe disease if they become infected.

According to the foundation, the third reason is that vaccination can help children aged 5 years and over keep them in school, and help them participate safely in sports, play dates and other group activities.

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection, in cooperation with health authorities, had recently announced the start of providing a vaccination service for the “Pfizer Bionic” vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years, and the vaccine is given in two doses, with an interval of 21 days between the first and second doses.

This action comes within the framework of the recovery plan pursued by the UAE in the face of the "Covid-19" pandemic, and an affirmation of its proactive approach to caring for the health and safety of community members.

The Ministry confirmed that the vaccine for the age group of 5-11 years is optional and not mandatory, explaining that this decision was made based on the results of clinical studies, and the strict evaluation followed globally and locally, which complies with the approved international regulations.

Where vaccinations are safe and effective, and one of the best tools to protect society and help in enhancing immunity, providing prevention of complications of the disease and admission to hospitals and intensive care, especially in light of the emergence of new mutations.
