The Departmental Federation of Farmers' Unions (FDSEA) of Ille-et-Vilaine and the Young Farmers (JA), had called for mobilization when "all sectors are experiencing an increase in production costs".

Producers and breeders have carried out price checks, particularly on milk and pork products.

"We ensure the application of the EGalim 2 law and raise awareness about the origin of our products", underlined Florian Denais, spokesperson for the JA.

The EGalim 2 law aims to "protect the remuneration of farmers", according to the law published on October 19, 2021 in the Official Journal.

Producers questioned the director of the hypermarket, Julien Niel, on the lack of data on the origin of certain products on the shelves.

Mr. Niel explained "that he will undertake to send the information to the national level" but "that he is not in the negotiating box".

The farmers then went to the rectorate before ending their "rally" with a meeting with Emmanuel Berthier, prefect of the Brittany region.

Earlier this week, the government announced an "emergency plan" of 270 million euros for the pork industry to support the cash flow of pig farmers.
