Excavation work continues to save the child Rayan, who is being held in a dry well, 32 meters deep, in the village of Tamrout, in the Chefchaouen governorate (northern Morocco).

And the news website of the Moroccan Channel One (government) quoted a source from the rescue team (which it did not name), that two meters separated the team working to rescue Rayan who has been stuck inside the well since Tuesday noon.

The rescue team is preparing to start horizontal digging immediately after reaching a depth of 32 meters, and the local authorities brought yesterday, Thursday night, huge pipes that will be used for manual digging of a 3-meter-long tunnel that connects the huge hole parallel to the well and where the child is, due to the fragility of the soil of the area and to ensure that the soil does not collapse on the ground. Rayan.

The rescue team is digging a slope 150 meters long and 32 meters deep, parallel to the well in which Rayan was suspended, in order to reach it through the horizontal port.

The drilling efforts came after the failure of a number of entrants (cave explorers) to reach the stuck child due to the narrow diameter of the well, which does not exceed 45 centimeters, and the difficulty of the soil.

Dozens of volunteers flocked from distant cities to extend a helping hand and try to save the child Rayan, 5, who fell into the uncovered and unfenced well near the family's home.

Rayan is supplied with oxygen and water through tubes to keep him alive, and the authorities have prepared a medical helicopter belonging to the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie and medical teams specialized in resuscitation of the Ministry of Health are present at the place in order to carry out the necessary medical interventions before transferring the child Rayan to the nearest hospital institution.
