That's good news, albeit one that should have come sooner: The 2-G rule in Hessian retail will no longer apply at the beginning of next week.

Their introduction has hurt brick-and-mortar retail.

The decision that up to 10,000 spectators can go to Eintracht or 7,000 to the Darmstadt Lilien was overdue.

In the meantime, people are able to behave within the framework of the requirements in such a way that such events and relaxations do not become a focus of incidence.

It is also sensible to finally make FFP-2 masks mandatory.

The less effective medical masks are still seen far too often.

In this sense, things must move forward quickly: It would be desirable if we could soon present a uniform, phased plan for further openings that is valid for the whole of Germany.

Because even in Germany you need a perspective again;

it doesn't have to be a great "Freedom Day".

Because Corona doesn't have to be taken lightly, despite the fact that the course of the omicron is less severe in most cases.

Which is not a problem despite Corona

That's why the wrong people shouldn't shout hurrah: Compulsory vaccinations still make sense.

Because it will not stay with Omikron, and the fact that there is a perspective for easing is not due to those who want to show the state, but to those who have been vaccinated.

In this respect, there is now a danger that the wrong people will claim victory.

The vast majority of the population has pragmatically made the best of the situation, has done everything to protect themselves and others - and now longs for the reward.

It's okay if you're happy together about what you've achieved.

But the thank you should go to the right place, especially in the hospitals, where work is now being done to the limit on the normal wards, which are now full.

Because that too is part of the truth.

And it's all the more reason to keep vaccinating, testing and wearing masks.

But let's shake hands again.

This is not a problem.
