The tension rises between Valérie Pécresse and Eric Zemmour.

The relatives of the candidate Les Républicains for the 2022 presidential election launched the counter-offensive this week after the broadcast on social networks of videos accusing some of her supporters of holding “a double discourse on Islamism”.

The spokesperson for the candidate, Florence Portelli, castigated this Wednesday “the stink balls and the fake news” launched by the entourage of the candidate Reconquest.

"The nauseating way in which Mr. Zemmour campaigns makes him a worthy heir to the far right," she said.

By devoting a press conference to this subject, the Pécresse camp says it wants to "return blows for blows".

The right remains marked by the previous "Ali Juppé", who had sealed the campaign of the favorite of the primary of the right in 2016.

“They put a target on my back”

The vice-president of the Ile-de-France region, Patrick Karam, adviser to Valérie Pécresse, thus denounced on Wednesday the “digital fatwa” of which he is a victim, emanating from what he calls the “fachosphere”.

“They put a target on my back.

I had the right to hundreds of video tweets that manipulate reality.

It was relayed by Guillaume Peltier, Jérôme Rivière [two supporters of Eric Zemmour]… I deleted hundreds and hundreds of hate messages and death threats.

For fifteen days, I have been subjected to this surge.

Supporters of Eric Zemmour relayed a video montage in January, in which the elected LR Ile-de-France is accused of being "a fervent supporter of the Islamist Mohammed Henniche", the former rector of the great mosque of Pantin, closed for six months in October 2020 by the authorities.

Justice had questioned the sharing, on the Facebook page of the place of worship, of the video of a student's father, at the origin of the gear that led to the assassination of Samuel Paty.

But Patrick Karam denounced on Wednesday "manipulated facts" and "ambiguities about the dates", recalling that his meeting with Mohammed Henniche dated back to 2015. "At that time, he was an essential interlocutor in the 93 [pour les] public authorities , he worked with the prefects and the ministers of the Interior”, he justified.

His lawyer announced in the process that "two defamation complaints are in preparation against Damien Rieu, and another for cyberharassment" also targeting "the main accounts relaying the accusations".

“We brought down Ali Juppé, Farid Fillon, we will also bring down Valérie Pécresse”

Damien Rieu, head of Eric Zemmour's response cell on social networks, assumes that he relayed this video to his 118,000 Twitter followers.

“Patrick Karam does not have many arguments.

Everyone knows that Mr. Henniche has been an Islamist for years.

It is important to disseminate this information so that LR voters do not get fooled.

LR executives betray them by showing Islamo-rightism.

“The former Generation Identity, who also targeted the boss of LR deputies Damien Abad, described on social networks as “IslamAbad”, announces other “revelations to come”.

"We brought down Ali Juppé [at the primary], Farid Fillon [in the first round of 2017], we will also bring down Valérie Pécresse," he threatens.

A strategy claimed by Eric Zemmour Monday on CNews.

“Many elected officials who have joined Valérie Pécresse have acquaintances and complacency for the Salafist movements and the Muslim Brotherhood.

We are going to denounce their maneuvers and their misdeeds, ”he pointed out, also accusing the LR candidate in person, without however providing evidence.

"This is just the beginning," adds Samuel Lafont, the candidate's digital strategy manager.

Our teams are working like crazy, and there is a lot to come out on our opponents.

The previous “Ali Juppé” in 2016

These online attacks are reminiscent of those that affected Alain Juppé during the 2016 primary. Renamed "Ali Juppé" and victim of photomontage on social networks, the mayor of Bordeaux had been accused of complacency towards Islamism by extreme right and identity accounts.

At the time, the candidate regretted with

20 Minutes

having "underestimated" these "disgusting accusations, which had an impact in part of the electorate".

To avoid such a scenario, the right has therefore opted for a firm response.

“Valérie asked us to react quickly and strike back.

We will systematically file a complaint because we cannot allow ourselves to be insulted and dragged through the mud by Eric Zemmour and his supporters, who engage in gutter politics”, tackle Eric Pauget, deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes and early support.

But the right has also responded on the same ground, accusing the Reconquest candidate of "complacency with radical Islam".

“It is not Valérie Pécresse but Mr. Zemmour who has dubious friendships with Tariq Ramadan and it is he too who announced that he has admiration for the jihadists”, castigates Florence Portelli.

On Twitter, several accounts supporting candidate LR launched the hashtag #TariqZemmour and unearthed quotes from the former CNews columnist.

On social networks, too, the battle of the rights has only just begun.
