A video of the anti-submarine patrol aircraft 'P-8 Poseidon', which the Korean Navy will introduce as the next anti-submarine patrol aircraft, has been released for the first time.

Nicknamed the so-called 'submarine killer', the P-8 Poseidon is considered the best anti-submarine patrol aircraft of this era.

SBS obtained a video filmed by Boeing of the United States after completing the assembly and painting process of Poseidon at a factory in Washington state on the 31st of last month local time.

This aircraft, which will be recorded as the Korean Navy's Poseidon Unit 1, had the Taegeuk pattern and the two letters 'Navy' clearly engraved on the fuselage.

On the tail wing, there was a golden eagle pattern that symbolized the 61st Squadron, the Navy's patrol aircraft unit.

The Navy is planning to introduce a total of six units, starting with Poseidon Unit 1 this year.

The Poseidon is superior in speed, detection range, detection accuracy, and attack capability compared to the P-3, the existing patrol aircraft owned by the Korean Navy.

It can drop sonar, a sonar, to locate enemy submarines, as well as use state-of-the-art radar and optical electronic detection equipment with a detection range of more than 400 km to accurately capture surface periscopes.

Poseidon also has the ability to locate enemy submarines and sink them with a Mark 54 torpedo.

The Navy expects that the introduction of Poseidon will significantly increase its ability to respond to 70 North Korean submarines and submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs).
