Russia will move the naval exercise area outside the exclusive economic zone of Ireland

“In response to requests from the Government of Ireland, as well as appeals from the Association of Southern and Western Fish Producers of Ireland, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, decided to move the area of ​​the exercises of the Russian Navy scheduled for February 3-8 outside the exclusive economic zone of Ireland in order not to interfere with normal work Irish anglers in traditional fishing areas,” the statement said.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Ireland Yuri Filatov held a meeting with Irish fishermen, during which he discussed the exercises of the Russian Navy.

Also on January 24, Filatov said that Moscow had brought information to the Irish Foreign Ministry that Russian naval exercises in the Atlantic did not pose a threat to either Ireland or any other country.
