“The UK is considering doubling the number of troops and sending defensive weapons to Estonia,” RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that jets and warships can be sent to protect NATO allies.
“I have given instructions to prepare for the transfer of personnel and equipment to Europe next week so that we are able to support our NATO allies on land, at sea and in the air,” British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a statement.
It is specified that the possible redeployment of the British military contingent will strengthen the capabilities of NATO and support for the UK in Scandinavia and the Baltics.
Earlier it was reported that the British authorities plan to send several hundred troops to NATO countries neighboring Ukraine to “contain” Russia.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, announced that the UK was sending weapons to Ukraine.
