UGT, the majority union of Ford Almussafes, still does not give details of the pact reached on Thursday with the European management in Cologne to undertake an

adjustment plan that shields the future of the Valencian plant

.

Aware of the internal battle they are waging with the German factory in Saarlouis -which has not shown its cards either- for the award of the two new electric models, the union is silent while awaiting the call of the negotiating commission for the agreement by the electrification.

In it they will seek the support of the rest of the unions.

In fact, the Almussafes management has already been asked to convene this meeting to "thus give the rest of the unions the option of joining for the future of the factory." Although the UGT calls for the

"unity" of the entire works council

as a letter of introduction to the leadership of Detroit -in whose hands is the continuity of Almussafes-, they have not avoided throwing a taunt at the rest of the organizations: " They have refused to negotiate in the almost four months that probably the toughest negotiations in Ford's history have lasted in Almussafes."

In a statement sent to the staff, UGT advances that

"in the next few days" the content of the agreement

with the management will be made public. "We consider that we are going through a time in which it is necessary to transmit unity from Valencia, and present an agreement that is backed by 100% of the Works Council".

Now, if

STM Intersindical, CCOO and CGT

refuse to take on the agreed cuts, UGT sources are already advancing that they will defend them alone: "We will take on the challenge of explaining it alone to the workers, with the support of the entire Valencian society and being aware of how much is at stake". "We firmly believe that this agreement is the only way of hope for the Almussafes plant, since once the negotiations are finished, all that remains is to wait for the decision made by the multinational from Detroit", UGT sources have pointed out.

UGT is the only union that had been open to negotiating some labor flexibility with the management, which initially asked for a 10% pay cut, along with an increase in shift time and a reduction in vacations.

This initial approach was considered unaffordable by all the unions, although the UGT finally offered to

freeze wages for the next five years

in exchange for the award of more workload.
