The People's Power has decided not to issue candidates to Daegu Jung and Nam-gu among the five constituencies for the re- and by-elections for the National Assembly members to be held along with the March 9 presidential election.

Kwon Young-se, head of the nomination management committee for the March 9 re-election by-election, said at a briefing on the results of the examination by the nomination review committee today (28th), "Out of the five nominations, there are four areas in Jongno, Seochogap, Anseong, Gyeonggi, and Cheongju, Chungbuk." Daegu Jungnam-gu has decided not to nominate.”

Director Kwon explained, “The Daegu Jungnam-gu election occurred as a result of an investigation into a crime related to the Daejang-dong gate.

In Jungnam-gu, the election was held again as former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do resigned in October last year, after it was revealed that his son received 5 billion won from Hwacheon Daeyu, in charge of the Daejang-dong development project.

This decision is a response to the fact that the Democratic Party of Korea (Democratic Party) put forward a policy of no election in Jongno, Gyeonggi, Anseong, and Cheongju, Chungbuk, which the party was responsible for, and pressed the nominations in Seochogap and Daegu Jungnam-gu, where re-elections were held due to the resignation of People's Power lawmakers. It is also interpreted as a response.

However, the People's Power adhered to the principle of nomination for Seocho-gap.

Director Kwon said about Seo Cho-gap, who resigned after former lawmaker Yoon Hee-sook was accused of real estate, "I decided to nominate Seocho because it has absolutely nothing to do with criminal acts or acts."

He added that the nomination method for the remaining four regions has not been determined.

In the case of Jongno, when asked if he would not conduct strategic nominations, he replied, "It has not been decided that way." He replied, "I plan to continue thinking and deciding on the nomination methods for the four nominations."

Regarding the Jongno-Jungnam-gu nominations requested by Rep. Hong Jun-pyo, he said, "We have not talked about the nominations, and the nominations are a matter for the public officials to decide entirely."

Regarding the case of leaving the people's power and running as an independent, he said, "There is no practical way to prevent it. However, I hope that our party members will accept this purpose and work hard in the presidential election campaign."
