Events A man was arrested for robbing elderly women with the 'mataleón' method in Villaverde
A 26-year-old woman of Spanish nationality was found unconscious last Tuesday night on Arroyo de Fontarrón street in Moratalaz after suffering a robbery by the procedure of the
mataleón
when she entered the portal of her house.
The assailant asked for the mobile phone that the young woman was carrying, but she ignored him.
He then
grabbed her from behind and strangled her,
with his arms around her neck, until she lost consciousness.
The thief took the opportunity to take an iPhone phone.
A neighbor found the woman unconscious and raised the alarm.
A Samur-Civil Protection ambulance went to the scene of the robbery around 9:30 p.m.
After attending to the young woman, she
was transferred with facial trauma by an ambulance to the Gregorio Marañón Hospital,
as explained by a spokeswoman for Emergencies Madrid.
The victim of the event later told the agents that the assailant was a very tall man dressed in black who hid his face with a hood and a mask.
She claimed that the thief told her:
"Give me the phone or I'll put you to sleep."
She then locked him in the back of the neck until he was breathless and unable to defend himself.
When she woke up she was already being attended by a neighbor.
The National Police was deployed in the area after the robbery without being able to locate the alleged aggressor.
Agents from the Moratalaz police station are investigating the case and
asking if similar crimes have occurred in the area.
The
'mateleón' technique
consists of surprising the victims from behind by passing their arm around their neck to strangle them until they lose consciousness, at which point their belongings are stolen and they flee from the place in a rush.
