The judge investigating the

Dina case

has concluded the investigation without finally calling former Vice President of the Government

Pablo Iglesias

to testify as accused .

Judge

Manuel García Castellón

has issued an order this Thursday in which he maintains that it is not necessary to carry out any new procedure beyond those that had already been agreed upon.

The investigation period, therefore, will expire this Saturday, January 29, as requested by Anticorruption.

The car arrives after the Scientific Police have delivered a report to the judge explaining that it is not possible to obtain information from the memory card that was in the phone that was stolen from

Dina Bousselham

when she was an adviser to Iglesias.

The action of the leader of Podemos was under suspicion, since when that card was sent to him some time later, it took months to deliver it to its owner.

And when he did, the content was no longer accessible, despite the fact that according to the investigation it could be consulted when he received it.

The possibility of holding Iglesias responsible for the damage to the digital medium was to obtain data on when and how the mini SD card had been damaged, something that according to the expert who arrived at the Court this week has not been possible.

Thus, the last steps to be carried out by the judge are the interrogations already agreed upon of Bousselham herself, her partner at the time of the robbery, and the former Deputy Director of Police Operations (DAO)

Eugenio Pino

.

In that list there was no new statement from Iglesias, this time as a defendant.

Neither from the content of the expert opinion nor from those interrogations does the judge anticipate that the need to continue investigating the case will arise.

"There is no need for any further diligence arising from the well-deserved report, nor is it to be expected that from the statements that remain to be made the need to analyze any other avenue of investigation arises, so it is estimated that, after the practice of such proceedings -which, we reiterate, have already been agreed-, the investigation would be completed", he affirms.

Bousselham's will not be the first appearance before García Castellón, before whom he has already testified extensively.

That statement revealed that Iglesias had retained the card and that it was not working when he returned it.

In subsequent writings, Bousselham has attempted to exonerate Iglesias from any responsibility for its destruction.

The judge ended up sending the investigation to the Supreme Court to charge the then-registered Iglesias.

The High Court considered the material insufficient and agreed that the judge should continue carrying out procedures such as the expert opinion already completed or the interrogations still pending.

When these statements are concluded, the judge must dictate the resolution indicating against whom he sees sufficient evidence of a crime to go to trial.

There are only three defendants in the case: retired commissioner José Manuel Villarejo and two journalists from

Interviú

who are responsible for delivering the memory card to the then-active commissioner.
