According to Svetov, such a response from the Americans "was predictable."

“We are talking about the fact that the expansion of NATO, its rearmament, approaching the borders of Russia, threatens the security of Russia, respectively, Russia wants to somehow remove this danger.

To this we are told that NATO is a free association of free states, and each state has the right to join this union, and the union has the right to accept these members, ”the political scientist explained.

In his opinion, the fact that "their membership is a threat to the security of Russia" is not taken into account.

That is, as the expert emphasized, "our freedom to protect our security is being taken out of bounds."

Earlier, Lavrov said that on the main security issue - the non-expansion of NATO to the East - the United States did not respond positively.
