The Kan website, quoting the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Aviv Kohavi, revealed that the occupation army carried out an incursion into an unnamed neighboring country last month.

"A month ago, we made an incursion not far from here, and I won't go into details," Kochavi said.

He added - during his meeting with Israeli youths - that the operation is "moral" and that the soldiers who were sent carried out the task in an excellent manner, as he put it.

The Israeli official indicated that the operation was approved at the highest levels, and that preparations were made for the possibility of injury to Israeli soldiers at "the hands of enemy fighters."

Kohavi did not mention the name of the neighboring country, but Kan channel linked his statements to what was stated in press statements by an Israeli security source that special units of the Israeli army carried out 3 operations inside Syrian territory since the beginning of the year.

The source added that special forces are carrying out sensitive missions on Syrian territory, pointing out that Israeli operations inside Syria have not stopped.

During the past few years, the Israeli army, according to foreign reports, carried out dozens of air strikes in Syria against regime targets and against sites linked to Iranian militias.
