No one will dispute his palm of the most unlucky boy in Belgium.

Léon, an 11-year-old child living not far from Louvain, has since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic caught the Alpha, Delta and then Omicron variants in turn.

His story was relayed in mid-January by Belgian radio station

Radio 2

It was the father of the young boy who told the incongruous story of his son, and by extension of the whole family since the start of the health crisis.

The child has indeed contracted the coronavirus three times, each time from a different variant.

No serious symptoms in the family

Fortunately, the boy never developed any symptoms, like his parents and two brothers who also caught the Delta variant.

But Léon suffers from the repeated quarantines he has to undergo, which prevent him from going to school and seeing his friends.

An aggravated situation in the midst of the fifth wave of Covid-19.

"Léon's school had to close its doors for a week," explains the boy's father.

“Some children were sick, but most had no symptoms and felt very well.

A rather positive situation, but which makes the isolation even harder and unjustified in Leon's eyes.

“One of his brothers has meanwhile tested negative and was able to return to school,” his father explains.

“The older brother doesn't have to do PCR […] but he can't go to school because it's closed.

Too many teachers are absent.

A situation reminiscent of that experienced in many French schools in recent weeks.
