The municipal auditors have had the agenda since 2017 to in-depth review the municipal board's preparation before investment decisions, ie how the proposals for new investments are presented to the municipal council.

In a letter submitted on Monday, the results of the review were presented.

- This is something we have seen problems with for a long time, says Lars Beckman (M).

According to the auditors, the information provided to decision-makers is deficient and lacks an impact assessment.

- It will be a great difficulty for politicians to understand the consequences of the decision basis that is available, says Lars Beckman (M).

Mattsson (S) critical of the audit

The auditors now hope for change, but the municipal board chairman Per-Ola Mattsson (S) does not understand the criticism.

He believes that the audit is incorrect.

- The investment does not start if there is no financing for it.

Mattsson (S) believes that there is always a calculation ready before a project starts.

But that the same calculation would already exist in the parties' proposals, he sees as impossible.

- There are no resources for that.

If you can not make requests about what to invest in the municipality, I think it is problematic.
