Amid colorful parades, the Kingdom of Cambodia celebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, yesterday, by presenting a series of traditional classic performances in Cambodia, or the “Golden Land”, as it is called, which during the celebration also expressed its commitment to sustainable development.

This came after the official flag-raising ceremonies were held, and the national anthems of the UAE and Cambodia were played on the platform of nations in Al Wasl Square, the beating heart of Expo 2020 Dubai.

The cultural events organized on the sidelines of the celebration included the presentation of the Best Wishes Dance, a traditional Cambodian dance, aimed at blessing members of ruling families, kings, presidents and senior officials when they visit Cambodia, as a kind gesture from this hospitable people.

The celebrations also witnessed the performance of the "Ramayana" dance, inspired by one of the Sanskrit epics.

Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, was at the forefront of the future of the Minister of Commerce and Commissioner-General of Cambodia at Expo 2020 Dubai, Pan Surasak.

"The Cambodia pavilion integrates ancient cultures and sustainable development, as it presents the history and civilization of this good people, while at the same time reviewing the country's unique natural ecosystem and agricultural development," Al Zeyoudi said.

He added: "The UAE is proud of the relationship it has with Cambodia, which has flourished on more than one level over the years, and we hope that we will be able to build on the already existing partnership relations between our two countries, and explore opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange on sectors of mutual interest, such as agriculture and tourism. and infrastructure development.

For his part, Ban Surasak said: “The Kingdom of Cambodia is the ancient land of Suvanaphum, or the golden land in Southeast Asia, with a flourishing culture and civilization with deep historical roots. This great heritage was immortalized in the famous ancient temples, such as Angkor Wat, and through our arts and culture. Vibrant, as well as in our attractive natural environment that inspires tourists, and attracts them from all over the world.”

He added: "As custodians of this legacy, our country strives to achieve sustainable economic development, and this is a main reason for choosing Cambodia as the subject of sustainability for its participation in (Expo 2020 Dubai), and here I would like to extend a warm welcome to businessmen, investors and tourists, and invite them to explore the beautiful and attractive Cambodia Pavilion." .

Located in the Sustainability District, the Cambodia Pavilion features three distinct areas centered around ancient cultures, the natural ecosystem and agriculture, and each theme provides an opportunity for visitors to see how this rich gem of Asia takes sustainability very seriously.

National and Honorary Days at Expo 2020 Dubai are distinguished times to celebrate all the more than 200 international participants, highlighting their culture, achievements, and showcasing their pavilions and programmes.

A gift to the Emirates.. Silver plated

During the National Day celebrations of Cambodia at Expo 2020 Dubai, an official gift was presented to the UAE, represented by a gold and silver-plated copper tray, handcrafted using the ancient craftsmanship methods of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
