“Moscow is concerned about the significant complication of the internal political situation in this friendly African country.

We continue to closely monitor the development of the situation and look forward to its soonest stabilization,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

It is noted that during the unrest in the republic, Russian citizens were not injured.

“We recommend that Russians temporarily refrain from traveling to Burkina Faso that is not caused by urgent need,” they added.

Earlier, the media reported that the President of Burkina Faso, Rosh Marc Kabore, was allegedly detained by the military and held in a military camp in Ouagadougou.
