SVT Nyheter Helsingborg has in a series of reports examined over-indebtedness in society.

Brand new statistics from the Enforcement Officer now confirm the problem of rapidly growing debts and people who get stuck in over-indebtedness for a very long time.

The whole review:

The debts in Sweden and the people behind them

Fewer people but worse debts

The bailiff states that the debt mountain of 94 billion is larger than ever, but that fewer people are responsible for the debts.

At the turn of the year, there were just over 390,000 in debt, which is a decrease of approximately 11,000.

Those who have debts with the Enforcement Officer are thus liable for ever larger sums.

Streets of affected municipalities

We find six of the twenty municipalities in the country with the highest proportion of over-indebted inhabitants in northwestern Skåne.

These are Perstorp, Åstorp, Bjuv, Klippan, Örkelljunga and Landskrona.

Five of the municipalities are also adjacent to each other.

- We are all old mills with many low-income earners.

One problem is that residents who have been educated then have chosen not to return to the municipality, says Dina Grgic, budget and debt advisor in Bjuv.

Electricity prices and the pandemic contribute

The budget and debt advisers notice that already vulnerable people living with small margins have had problems during the pandemic year 2021.

- More people have e-shopped more than they can afford, taken out expensive loans with high interest rates, we see more people seeking help for addiction and losing their jobs during the year.

But we also see a positive trend.

The homes that are being built in Bjuv attract people with higher incomes to move here, says Dina Grgic.
