Recently, the Colosseum opened its restored Gladiator's Tunnel to the public for the first time, attracting tourists to Rome.

  According to reports, part of the tunnel of the Colosseum was officially repaired and completed in June 2021. The tunnel contains rooms and passages, and was once a place for gladiators and wild animals before the rodeo.

Colosseum curator Alfonsina Russo named it the real backstage of the amphitheatre, where visitors can experience the inner workings of the real arena.

  It is understood that when visiting the newly opened Gladiator Tunnel, guests will receive a full guided tour of the Colosseum, from the backstage basement to the Valadier Terrace, where people can explore the preparations the gladiators once fought against the beasts , for a deep experience.

The project will complete its final phase in 2024, restoring the galleries and lighting systems, as well as adding a new visitor center.

There are plans to add a brand new arena floor and clean the outer walls of the Colosseum by 2023.

  Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini expressed great concern for the restoration of the Colosseum and congratulated the Colosseum tunnels for opening to the public.
