The outbursts that occurred during the anti-fascist demonstration on Friday evening in downtown Nantes continue to agitate the political class. The president of the Pays-de-la-Loire regional council turns Monday to the ultra-left collective Nantes Révoltée which she accuses of being involved in the clashes with the police and the material damage against of several shops. Exasperated, Christelle Morançais (LR), supported by several right-wing elected officials, wrote to the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, to ask him to "restore order and put an end to the actions" of Nantes Révoltée and to engage proceedings for its dissolution.
“For several years, this well-known de facto grouping of your services has legitimized the brutal demonstrations and repeated looting of the city center.
Present in all the gatherings which degenerate violently, its members contribute to making Nantes the capital of ultra-left violence in France”, denounces Christelle Morançais.
“The record of these abuses is edifying.
For almost ten years, hundreds of police and residents have been injured during these violent demonstrations, traders are at their wit's end and the bill for the taxpayer and for business leaders amounts to several tens of millions. euros.
We cannot allow this anarchist and hateful ideology to flourish any longer.”
Very active on the networks
Does Johanna Rolland join in this request for dissolution?
Asked on the sidelines of a press conference on Monday, the mayor of Nantes (PS) did not answer clearly.
“The right to protest is inalienable.
But nothing ever justifies violence, degradation, ”she simply commented.
Regularly present in the demonstrations, the Nantes Révoltée collective is also very active on social networks, in particular when it comes to denouncing "police violence".
The group, followed by nearly 200,000 people on Facebook, is also a medium that has been publishing magazines for five years.
The ninth issue, which is called
Counter attack
, was also released a few days ago.
