On the afternoon of January 24, local time, Burkina Faso state television broadcast a message that a group of soldiers led by Lieutenant Colonel Sandogo Damiba announced that the Movement for the Defence and Restoration of the Patriotic Movement (MPSR) had seized power.
They announced a constitutional suspension, dissolved the Burkina Faso government and National Assembly, and closed land and air borders.
And a nationwide curfew will be implemented, which will start at 9 p.m. and end at further notice.
Sandogo Damiba said in a televised speech that he decided to remove President Kabore from his post. There was no blood and violence in the incident. The arrested persons were placed in a safe place and their dignity would be respected.
