The space journey of the three astronauts on Shenzhou 13 is more than halfway

Space station life is busy and exciting (technological point of view)

On October 16, 2021, the Shenzhou 13 manned spacecraft was successfully launched, starting China's longest manned flight to date.

The three astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu embarked on a six-month space trip, and the Chinese space station also welcomed the second batch of astronauts and the first female astronaut.

The space station flies in a near-Earth elliptical orbit about 400 kilometers away from the earth. The environment in which the astronauts live is microgravity, high vacuum, alternating high and low temperature, and space radiation.

The space station orbits the earth every 90 minutes, which means that the space station has to experience frequent hot and cold alternations, with a maximum temperature of 200 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of minus 120 degrees Celsius.

Such a miraculous and harsh space journey has lasted for 3 months. The Shenzhou 13 astronauts spent half of the "space travel" not only successfully completing various scientific experiments and technical experiments, but also having a positive impact on the living environment of the space station. More and more adaptable, and more and more accustomed to the busy and exciting space life.

Space out may seem romantic, but it is actually full of risks

Shenzhou 13 astronauts successfully exited the cabin twice, "feeling good" is hard-won

Space exit can be described as the "top priority" of the Shenzhou 13 astronaut crew space station mission.

Space excursion is described as a "space walk", which is a necessary skill for astronauts in the space station era. It seems romantic, but it is full of risks.

In the harsh space environment, any fault may lead to the failure of the evacuated activities, and even threaten the health and safety of the astronauts.

So far, the Shenzhou 13 astronaut crew has successfully completed two extravehicular activities.

On November 7, 2021, Zhai Zhigang and Wang Yaping, dressed in my country's new generation of "Flying" extravehicular spacesuits, successfully exited from the Tianhe core module node module.

This is the first Chinese astronaut Zhai Zhigang to carry out the extravehicular activity again after a lapse of 13 years. Wang Yaping has also become the first Chinese female astronaut to carry out the extravehicular activity, taking the first step in the Chinese women's extravehicular spacewalk.

In the meantime, Ye Guangfu in the cabin cooperated and supported the two astronauts to carry out extravehicular operations.

About 6.5 hours later, the Shenzhou 13 astronaut crew worked closely together to successfully complete all the scheduled tasks for out-of-vehicle activities such as the installation of the mechanical arm suspension and adapters, and the test of typical extravehicular movements.

After Zhai Zhigang and Wang Yaping safely returned to the Tianhe core cabin, they hugged excitedly with Ye Guangfu in the cabin.

During the exit process, the astronauts answered "feeling good" respectively, which earned the Shenzhou 13 astronaut crew the nickname of the "feeling good" crew.

On December 27, 2021, Zhai Zhigang and Ye Guangfu successfully exited the cabin again.

In the boundless starry sky, Ye Guangfu, a member of the "feel good" crew, experienced space exit for the first time, Zhai Zhigang completed his third exit, and Wang Yaping controlled the robotic arm for the first time in the core cabin, supporting the two astronauts to carry out extravehicular activities. Operation.

The careful protection and guidance of the ground support team, the coordination of heaven and earth, the cooperation inside and outside the cabin, and the protection of the extravehicular space suits allowed the Shenzhou 13 astronaut crew to successfully complete the second 6-hour out-of-vehicle mission. It has further accumulated experience for the follow-up outboard activities.

Carrying out space science experiments and technical tests, including the mission of leaving the cabin, is the main work of astronauts in orbit. For more than three months, the space science experiments and technical tests of the Shenzhou 13 manned mission have been carried out in an orderly manner. .

On January 8, 2022, the astronaut crew of Shenzhou 13, under the close coordination of ground technicians, took manual remote operation in the core module of the space station, which lasted about 2 hours, and successfully completed the Tianzhou-2 cargo spacecraft. A rendezvous and docking test with the space station complex.

No one is a "hands-off shopkeeper", every astronaut has to do "housework"

The three astronauts have an orderly and more comfortable life in space

At present, the Shenzhou 13 astronaut crew has been flying in orbit for three months. From the slight nervousness and excitement of entering the space "home" to the familiarity and comfort now, it is no wonder that "feeling good" is a common feature of Chinese astronauts. Voice of the heart.

The "big living room" of the Tianhe core cabin is becoming more and more lively, and the space "suite" is spacious and comfortable, with a suitable temperature and humidity similar to that of the ground.

Three meals a day are varied and nutritious.

There is also a "refrigerator" in the Tiangong, and the preservation technology is very good. The astronauts can eat apples, bananas and other fruits.

The food that is common in real life on the ground can be eaten by astronauts in the sky.

  Life in space is organized.

No one in the space station is a "hands-off shopkeeper". Each astronaut has to "do housework", take care of the corresponding living work, prepare three meals a day, clean up waste, and organize the housekeeping of the space station...

One morning, Zhai Zhigang, the first commander to leave the sleeping cabin, first prepared breakfast for the three of them, and then began to brush his teeth and wash his face.

After enjoying a delicious and healthy breakfast, Zhai Zhigang started the day's work immediately, while Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu started to clean up and set up the table, and every item would be sorted into the corresponding position.

The air purification system of the space station can handle most of the harmful gases in the air, and the existence of some dust in the corners is likely to cause a series of effects on the space station and astronauts.

Ye Guangfu and Zhai Zhigang cooperated to clean up the dust accumulation equipment with a vacuum cleaner.

During the life of the space station, it is inevitable that a large amount of garbage will be generated.

The three astronauts sorted the kitchen waste. Food packaging bags should be placed in special large bags, and wet waste will be recycled separately.

In the zero-gravity environment of space, if littering, food residues or water droplets suspended in the air are inhaled into the lungs of the astronauts, which will cause suffocation or even endanger life.

Garbage on the space station may take a year to be transported back to the ground. In order to prevent the growth of bacteria from contaminating the entire space station, the garbage disposal is very strict.

Ordinary garbage such as paper towels and plastic bags can be vacuumed and compressed to reduce the volume, so that more garbage can be stored for further processing.

In addition to the clean living environment of the space station, the "space length difference" also makes the astronauts have to take care of their personal image, get a haircut or shave.

Not long ago, the three astronauts of Shenzhou 13 designed new hairstyles for each other and completed space haircuts.

Although the haircut process is very smooth, there are actually some risks.

For astronauts who want to cut their hair, they should fix their bodies to prevent them from floating up, so as not to be "accidentally injured" by the hair cutting tools.

Under the conditions of weightlessness in space, the small water droplets formed by broken hair and haircut water, if not collected and cleaned up in time, may fall into the gaps of some precision instruments and cause malfunctions, causing damage to the space station, and may also be accidentally damaged by astronauts Inhaled, life-threatening.

Therefore, the astronauts also used a special hair cutting device, a vacuum hair clipper, and finally completed the "little thing" of "space hair cutting".

In daily life in space, astronauts can read books, listen to songs, watch dramas, and make phone calls with their families.

Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu sometimes make video calls with their family members to enjoy parent-child time and warm moments after their busy work in space.

One-hundred-day residency, space science popularization, space New Year's Eve... Many new records in China's spaceflight have been written

Everyone has a common feeling: as long as you have a dream, as long as you work hard, you will definitely achieve your dreams

The Shenzhou 13 astronaut, who performed a six-month "space trip" for the first time, also caught up with the New Year's Eve in space for the first time, setting a new record for Chinese astronauts.

It circles the earth every 90 minutes and sees the sunrise and sunset 16 times a day.

On the first day of 2022, astronauts ushered in the "New Year's Dawn" with people on Earth in the space station.

On the first day of the new year, the three astronauts started busy early in the morning. After completing routine medical examinations and sampling of surface microbes and air microbes, they didn't start eating lunch until 12:30.

After a short lunch break, the three astronauts left the sleeping cabin and started physical training. Wang Yaping mainly used treadmills for aerobic exercise, and Ye Guangfu made full use of elasticity to bring about exercise strength.

Zhai Zhigang's exercise is the most interesting. It seems that the movement range is not large, but in fact the whole person maintains a delicate balance in static state.

Using the weightless environment and space resources to carry out space science is not only a scientific task for astronauts, but also an act of conveying their dreams.

On December 9, 2021, "space teachers" Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu brought a wonderful space science class to young people on the space station, and the first space class in China's space station was held in "Tiangong Classroom".

During the 60-minute lecture, the astronauts vividly introduced and demonstrated the working and living scenes of the space station, demonstrated the magical physical phenomena in the microgravity environment, and explained the scientific principles behind the experiments.

On the afternoon of the first day of the new year, the astronauts interacted with the young people on earth, combining their own flying experience, communicated in real time with the keywords of "dream" and "struggle", and sent a New Year's message from "Heavenly Palace".

At the same time, the "Space Painting Exhibition" was held on the space station for the first time. The astronauts displayed and introduced more than 20 space-themed paintings created by teenagers in the central and western regions.

Rockets, spaceships, space stations, and magical space life... Children present their infinite reverie and wonderful vision of the vast space on the drawing paper.

When the astronauts introduced them one by one, they couldn't help but be moved by the children's infinite longing for the vast universe in space.

More than half of the six-month space trip, the Shenzhou 13 astronauts have created a series of new records in China's spaceflight.

On January 15, Wang Yaping worked in space for more than 100 days, becoming the first female astronaut in China to spend more than 100 days in orbit.

"2021 will be a year full of harvest and fruitful results for the whole line of manned spaceflight engineering. Five missions have been successfully completed in succession, the construction of the space station has achieved phased results, and the Chinese have settled in their 'space home' for the first time. Diligent strugglers keep setting new records. In this regard, we all have a common feeling that as long as we have dreams and work hard, we will definitely achieve what we want." Wang Yaping said.
