The members of parliament have to decide on important details when the Bundestag soon discusses the introduction of compulsory corona vaccination.

A lot will depend on how exactly it is designed.

A time limit of one to two years, which the SPD politician Dirk Wiese has brought into play, could prove to be useful.

The deputies thus showed that they were trying to take the edge off the measure, which some people disliked, as much as possible.

Outright opponents of vaccination will not develop into convinced supporters of this. However, a time limit expresses the goal of solving an acute problem as quickly as possible without introducing additional rules. A time limit would also include the requirements of the judiciary, which has so far been most likely to accept restrictive corona measures if they were limited in time.

After all, there is no problem of knowledge.

More vaccinations are the key to largely ending the pandemic.

The expert council of the federal government has just emphasized this again.

One risk of the time limit is that those who are undecided may perceive the regulation as too hesitant and then try to save themselves over time by refusing it.

The legislature would have to put a stop to this early on if it opted for this model.

And you can always extend it later.
