Katrineholmsbon adopted two dogs from abroad via a mediation organization in Sweden.

But according to the woman, the dogs were sick at the time of delivery.

Both needed to be killed just weeks after arriving at their new home.

Severe pain

The dog owner demanded the money back from the broker.

But when they did not agree, the dispute ended up with ARN, which has now decided that the intermediary should pay just over SEK 8,000 for one dog.

According to the board, the investigation has shown that the dog suffered from severe pain.

The Consumer Purchase Act

The dog broker considered that it is the dog owner's responsibility to ensure that the dogs are insured.

But ARN points out that it is the seller's responsibility to show that the dog was not ill at the time of handover.

Since the intermediary has not been able to do so, the Consumer Purchase Act's rules on defective goods apply, according to ARN.

The intermediary is recommended to repay the entire purchase price and veterinary costs to the customer, according to the board's decision.

Not replaced for the other dog

However, Katrineholmsbon does not receive compensation for the other dog.

This is because there was no evidence, such as a journal extract, that this was also sick at the time of delivery.
