The election for the mayor of Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture, where the issue of responding to the relocation plan of the US military Futenma base was an issue, was the polling day on the 23rd, and voting began at 7:00 am.

Kishimoto, a former Nago City Council member recommended by the Constitutional Democratic Party, the Communist Party, the Reiwa Shinsengumi, the Social Democratic Party, and the Okinawa Social Mass Party, is a newcomer who is not affiliated in the order of notification and is running for the Nago Mayoral election due to the expiration of his term. They are Yohei (49) and Taketoyo Toguchi (60), who is an unaffiliated incumbent aiming for the second term and is recommended by the Liberal Democratic Party and the Komeito Party.

While the conflict between the country and Okinawa Prefecture continues over the plan to move the U.S. military Futenma base to Henoko, Nago City, the incumbent Toguchi Toguchi said that he would watch the transition in this election campaign, while the newcomer Kishimoto plans. One of the issues was how to deal with this issue.

Furthermore, in the election campaign, in addition to measures against the new coronavirus and child-rearing support measures, there was a debate over regional development such as revitalization of urban areas.

Voting began at 7 am at 17 polling stations in the city.

Meanwhile, by the 21st, about 42% of voters, or 20,755, have voted early.

Voting closes at 8 pm and is counted the same day.
