China News Service, Beijing, January 21 (Ma Shuisha) The reporter learned from the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation that the Long March 8 Yao-2 carrier rocket has completed all the research and development work before leaving the factory and arrived safely at Wenchang Space Launch on January 21. field.

After that, the Long March 8 Yao-2 carrier rocket will complete the final assembly and test work at the launch site, and it is expected to complete the launch mission at an appropriate time from late February to early March. This launch is the first launch mission of China's new generation of carrier rockets in 2022.

It is understood that the Long March 8 carrier rocket is a new generation of medium-sized two-stage liquid bundled carrier rockets.

The first sub-stage uses liquid oxygen/kerosene as propellant and uses two 120-ton thrust YF-100 engines; the second sub-stage uses liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen as propellant and uses two 8-ton thrust YF-75 engines. It has the ability to start twice; two 2.25-meter-diameter liquid boosters are bundled, using liquid oxygen/kerosene as propellant, each using a 120-ton thrust YF-100 engine.

The Long March 8 launch vehicle can be launched from the Wenchang Space Launch Site and the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.

The total length of the whole rocket is 50.3 meters, the diameter of the first stage of the core is 3.35 meters, the diameter of the second stage is 3 meters, the diameter of a single booster is 2.25 meters, and the take-off mass of the rocket is about 356 tons. A 5-ton payload was sent into a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit.

The Long March 8 carrier rocket completed its maiden flight on December 22, 2020.

The Long March 8 carrier rocket uses green and environmentally friendly liquid propellant, and is developed according to the idea of modular combination, fully absorbing the development achievements of the in-service and new-generation carrier rockets. It has good inheritance, advancement, adaptability and economy. It can be Fill the gap in China's sun-synchronous orbit carrying capacity and meet the needs of future high-density launch missions in low and medium orbits.
