For more than 11 years, the young Sudanese woman, Etidal Al-Doma, has been striving hard and persistently to achieve her dream of making her small project successful, and introducing the world to the treasures of her country, by presenting a small part of the natural products contained in a long list of local fruits and fruits that Sudan is unique in producing, to start from then a journey « Thousand Miles" and eventually decided to travel at her own expense to participate individually in the activities of the largest exhibition "Expo 2020 Dubai", overcoming the difficulties she faced.

At the beginning of her dialogue with Emirates Today, Etidal confirmed that she hopes that her presence in this international event that brings the world together under one tent will be a real starting point for her project, although she did not receive any support on her long journey from South Darfur state, passing through the capital, Khartoum. , before reaching the UAE, specifically Dubai, to participate in its exhibition, carrying with it her big dream “in small juice bottles” and healthy products that were unique in their innovation and preparation with natural ingredients that earned them a patent and a certificate approved by the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization in 2015.

College of Nutrition

Etidal, who comes from the city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, western Sudan, indicated that she joined a specialized course in the College of Nutrition in her country that lasted for six months, which helped her greatly expand her knowledge and scientific perceptions about the importance of some local fruits and fruits that work to extract their health benefits.

The young woman, who is displaying some of her natural innovations at her country's pavilion at the Expo, added: "I have an accredited certificate in preparing traditional drinks and making sweets, as well as a patent for natural juices from (dom) and (Al-Ardeeb / tamarind), which are rich in vitamins, in addition to Other types include health and tonic features for the body.

And she continued: “I have so far succeeded in providing nine products that have a shelf life of about six months without using any additives or chemical preservatives, after I succeeded in extracting gum arabic, which is abundantly available in western Sudan, and adding it to some of my products to extend their shelf life in an irreversible way. It causes no damage.”

Regarding the components of the products she offers through her project, Etidal explained that among them are dates, “millet grains,” fenugreek, cumin, “ginger,” and other ingredients that her owner called “the natural energy formula,” in addition to the possibility of consuming it as food that can be eaten in a way. Continuous with bread or as a drink that can be mixed with fresh milk.

And she continued, "The (Al-Aradib / Tamarind) juice is characterized by its high acidity and vitamin C content, which helps to treat some health problems, while the (Baobadi) juice can be used to obtain useful amounts of calcium and potassium, and then vitamin C, which is necessary for the body.

She pointed out that she succeeded in introducing new products based on the fruits and yields that characterize her country, such as mango, Al-Ardeeb and Al-Qudim, which she presented in a different way through "Qamar Al-Din" juice, which is made in other countries, usually from apricots.

Despite its local success in launching the products of its project in South Darfur, which enabled it to support her family and develop its products to participate in events and exhibitions in Khartoum and the neighboring states of Darfur, Etidal still complains about the lack of sufficient resources and capabilities to think about improving the method of manufacturing and preservation, and thus improving the ways of packaging and presenting it Professionally, admitting that it is a very expensive process compared to the simple profits that I have reaped over the previous years. She continued, "I have the ability and sufficient knowledge to manufacture these healthy types of drinks, which I am confident will be able to compete at the global level if I had the opportunity to present them professionally, as they are enormous botanical wealth that can be an alternative to many recipes and manufactured preparations that are spread in the market." interest

Etidal Al Doma expressed her great happiness at being at Expo 2020 Dubai, despite the challenges she faced, adding: “I think I have achieved 50% of my goals by arriving at this international exhibition to inform everyone about these products, and perhaps it is an opportunity for me today to invite everyone to learn about these products.” I hope that it will receive the attention, adequate support and promotion it deserves by those interested in this vital field, which is still virgin in Sudan, despite the health benefits and natural treasures that each product contains for the body.”
