The Mauritanian presidency deplores this painful incident which cost the lives of 7 Mauritanian citizens.

The press release from the presidency does not specify the identity of the authors, nor their motivations.

But the Malian army would be involved in this massacre, according to testimonies collected from the families of the victims by online news agencies including Alakhbar.

Mauritanian Head of State Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani dispatched to Bamako the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, National Defence, Interior and the Director General of National Security.

An investigation will now have to determine the circumstances of the tragic incident and the responsibilities.

The most severe penalties will be imposed on the perpetrators of the crime, say the authorities.
