The prosecution had requested up to 12 years in prison.

Two dockers and an intermediary were sentenced to seven and eight years in prison on Friday evening by the Rennes Criminal Court for importing cocaine from the West Indies to the port of Montoir-de-Bretagne, near Saint-Nazaire (Loire -Atlantic).

Former boxer, Thierry Lorcy, 56, alias "Youyou", was sentenced to seven years in prison and a ban on practicing the profession of docker.

“My client is satisfied,” reacted his lawyer Me Fabrice Petit, specifying that he did not intend to appeal.

Already detained since January 2019 in another case, Mr. Lorcy was described at the hearing as a "pack leader", "ready to do battle", iron bar in hand facing customs officers.

Already convicted eight times for criminal association, domestic violence or aggravated money laundering, he is accused of having set up a system of importing cocaine, based on intimidation and threats, with the help of his son Damien.

The latter was sentenced at a first trial in October to seven years in prison.

An intermediary also condemned

Another 41-year-old docker, Anthony Martin, alias "Tintin", was sentenced to seven years in prison and a ban on practicing the profession of docker, in accordance with the requisitions.

He had admitted having participated in the reception of 140 kilos of drugs to help Damien Lorcy.

Presenting his client as “a man who obviously allowed himself to be corrupted”, lawyer Franck Boezec had stressed that he was “not a door opener, an organizer”.

Suspected of being an intermediary, the third defendant, Stefano Carassalini, 32, whose investigators revealed the luxurious lifestyle, was sentenced to eight years in prison, in accordance with the requisitions.

“This decision does not reflect the reality of the case”, reacted his lawyer Morgan Loret, considering that there were “no elements” against his client.

He plans to appeal.

The cocaine was imported by the “rip-off” technique, which consists of recovering the drug placed in a container when the doors open, taking advantage of a legal shipment between two companies, either without their knowledge or with their complicity.

The dock workers would then retrieve the cocaine as quickly as possible, placing a counterfeit lead back on the container that had been opened.

The court also ordered the confiscation of the seized property and sentenced the defendants to a customs fine of eight million euros, to be paid jointly with eight other defendants sentenced in October.

A total of 336 kg of cocaine

The investigation began in May 2017 after the seizure in the port of Santos (Brazil) of 690 kg of cocaine in a refrigerated container bound for Montoir-de-Bretagne.

A judicial investigation had been opened in November 2017. In total, 336 kilograms of cocaine were seized in the port of Montoir, between June 2017 and April 2020, in four imports involving dockers and representing more than 16 million euros at the resale, according to the prosecution.

The cocaine, coming from Latin America, passed through Guadeloupe and Martinique and was destined for the Paris region.
