In particular, charges were brought against the head of Belaeronavigatsia Leonid Churo, his deputy Oleg Kazyuchits and two employees of the state security service of Belarus.

The US Department of Justice suspects them of "using a false threat of a bomb on board to illegally change the route of a passenger flight with American citizens in order to arrest a Belarusian dissident."

Earlier, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sent its members a report on the investigation of the incident with the Ryanair aircraft and concluded that the plane was landed based on false information.

On May 23, 2021, a Ryanair plane, en route from Athens to Vilnius, made an emergency landing in Minsk.

According to the Belarusian authorities, this was due to reports of a bomb on board.
