A creative experience that mixes history, heritage and future projects based on promising innovations and creativity, presented by the Green Tunisia Pavilion to the eyes of the world at Expo 2020 Dubai, to tell through its slogan “Inspiring Youth .. A Promising Future”, stories of excellence based on national capabilities that lead the country’s future and its development process.

The Tunisian pavilion, located in the area of ​​opportunities, highlights the ambitious civilized vision of this Arab country, in the journey of diversity that has become part of Tunisia's past and present, even its Mediterranean geography open to the other, which it announces from the beginning, a reception area that has taken care of informing visitors of Tunisia's tourist, historical and cultural elements And promoting it as a rich tourist and cultural destination that attracts foreign investment.

Through four diverse sections, the Tunisian pavilion presents part of its development experiences and vision for the year 2050, and then its investment opportunities available in the future, based on the reception space through which the tourist, historical and cultural sites in Tunisia are explored, through a bouquet of promotional films that evoke the most prominent features of the country. and attractions, as well as a unique experience that allows visitors to wear Tunisian traditional dress in a virtual way through an interactive electronic mirror.

While another section presents a short film with advanced technological techniques based on flashback, or the so-called “flashback”, the guests of the pavilion embark with them on a journey through time starting from envisioning the future of Tunisia, through its present, to its past and its most important historical stations covered by the documentary work by reviewing its sites The archaeological site and the most influential national figure in Tunisian public life, in addition to a tour of ancient Carthage using virtual reality technology.

The third experiment presented by the pavilion was devoted to presenting the experiences of local projects and small and medium-sized companies in various fields, most notably modern inventions.

The arcade of traditional industries and handicrafts is the main attraction of the Tunisian pavilion. Between the manufacture of jewellery, the ancient traditional ornaments, the hand-woven experiments, the “Margoum” decorated with ancient Berber motifs, the authentic “Nablian” ceramics, and the elegant copperware, the Tunisian pavilion dedicates a space to discover its heritage treasures and details. Its ancient craft traditions, to attract the curiosity of those interested in discovering the history of peoples, and embodies the ingenuity of Tunisian craftsmen and the peculiarity of these local traditional industries, and the talents they possess that are able to compete on a global scale.

Tunisia is one of the most important countries that have preserved its traditional and handicraft industries, as this sector contributes 2% of Tunisia’s total exports, and provides 10% of job opportunities annually. Such as the famous “chachia” industry in Tunisia, which is one of the types of men’s hats that are popular in many Arab and Islamic countries, which Tunisians wear in red, after this industry appeared in conjunction with the migration of Andalusians to Tunisia after the fall of the city of Granada in 1492 At the time, this industry, which is considered a fine art, is subject to a set of strict rules and a specialized committee that allows those who succeed in testing it, to engage in the profession and promote it more broadly.

The pavilion also includes the carpets for which Kairouan was famous, the most important center of its industry, using woolen threads and natural colors with designs inherited for more than 13 centuries.

The craftsmen of this industry were able to preserve the methods of its fabric and natural materials that were passed down from generation to generation, to be subject today to strict control processes and reliable quality seals that show the quality of the materials used in its manufacture, and guarantee its quality.

The Tunisia pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai sheds light on the success stories of the projects of some Tunisian institutions, especially those emerging in technology and innovation, such as the manufacture of light aircraft, artificial limbs using 3D printing technology, and the experience of launching the first Tunisian satellite.
