It started last weekend.

A couple of the inmates felt unwell.

- We screened with quick tests to get a picture.

And it can be said that this is about half of the inmates who are infected or suspected of being infected, says Anders Jansson.

Those who have symptoms will undergo a PCR test.

Otherwise, they try to make the best of the situation.

Hard to keep your distance

- It is in the nature of things that it can be difficult to keep your distance in a prison.

But we assume that those who tested positive are infected and the staff use protective equipment in contact with them, says Anders Jansson.

The staff has not escaped the infection either.

As it is now, a quarter of the staff - around 25 people - are at home for covid-related reasons.

Some are infected, others are quarantined because someone in the household is.

And this affects the activities inside the institution.

- When it comes to food and walks and showers and other hygiene, we solve it, says Anders Jansson.

- On the other hand, it is more difficult with the work-related business.

We work with packaging and delivering to customers and we can not do that right now, so there may be delays in our deliveries.

Unfortunately, we can not do anything about that right now.

Test bus coming next week

The institution offers its staff quick tests and next week there will be a test bus that anyone who wants can visit.

Those tests are safer than regular rapid tests.

- We hope that it will be easier after a week or so, says Anders Jansson.
