They also discussed current international diplomatic contacts in connection with Russia's attempts to revise the mechanisms for ensuring security in Europe.

Earlier, Borrell invited US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to join the meeting of foreign ministers of member states on January 24 to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

Aide to the President of Russia Yuri Ushakov, commenting on Kiev's statements about the alleged possibility of escalation by Russia, said that the Russian side has the right to move troops on its territory and "there is no talk of any pressure."
