According to the Foreign Ministry's press service, Sweden's ambassador to Colombia, Helena Storm, plans to attend the trial.

The hearing was scheduled to begin on October 21, but was suspended at short notice.

Ola Bini was arrested in Ecuador's capital Quito in April 2019, on suspicion of having gained access to computer and telecom systems without a permit.

He was detained until the end of June that year and has not been allowed to leave the country since.

Bini is familiar with the imprisoned Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who previously stayed at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Bini was arrested just hours after Ecuador withdrew Assange's asylum.

Bini's defender Carlos Soria has previously told TT that the legal process against his client has been politically motivated from the beginning.
