The Majilis of the Parliament approved the abolition of Nazarbayev's lifetime chairmanship in the Security Council

The law approved by the Majilis has been sent to the Senate for consideration.

On January 5, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that he had headed the country's Security Council.

Nazarbayev's spokesman Aidos Ukibay noted that the first president of Kazakhstan himself decided to transfer the post of chairman of the country's Security Council to the current head of state, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
