The Ministerial Council for Development, headed by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, held its first meeting of the current year at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

During the meeting, a number of initiatives aimed at supporting the government work system and continuing to develop it to meet the requirements of the future stage were discussed, foremost of which was a discussion of a number of policies and studies in the health field, the labor market in the private sector, and raising the efficiency of electricity production.

The meeting's agenda included discussing studies to raise the efficiency of electricity production, reduce carbon emissions, and create more integration and cooperation between the electricity providers in the country.

They also discussed updating policies for classifying private sector establishments and classifying the skill levels of employment in the private sector in a way that supports entrepreneurship, contributes to strengthening the policy of demographic diversity in private sector establishments, achieves the sustainability of vital sectors and enhances the country's competitiveness.

In legislative affairs, the council discussed updating a number of legislation related to human resources in the federal government in line with the standard rules of work in the country and best practices globally, enhancing the UAE’s global competitiveness in the field of human resources and achieving the highest levels of efficiency and productivity in government work.

They also discussed amending a number of legislations related to health facilities and private pharmaceutical facilities to enhance the investment environment in the country, attract expertise and international companies, open up prospects for foreign investment in the health sector, create investment opportunities for private health and pharmaceutical facilities, enhance their capabilities and diversify their activities.

In government reports, the Ministerial Council for Development reviewed, and discussed in its session a number of reports, including the report of the Audit Bureau on the final account of the Emirates Investment Authority for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2020, and a report on the developments of the development of an electronic platform for evaluation and monitoring of products and production capacities of national medical factories.
