Emmanuel Macron is expected this Wednesday at the European Parliament in Strasbourg to meet MEPs.

The Head of State must present his main orientations on European sovereignty during a question and answer session.

A European event which however promises to be very Franco-French.

This Wednesday, Emmanuel Macron is traveling to the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The French President will give a speech, then hold a Q&A session with MEPs. A French presidency which will inevitably be hit by the presidential campaign which is in full swing in France. This makes the exercise all the more delicate for the Head of State.

This is probably the real kick-off of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union staged by Emmanuel Macron, who will speak to MEPs for the second time in his five-year term.

Beyond his speech where he will present his main orientations on European sovereignty, the reform of the Schengen area or the ecological transition, it is the question and answer exercise with the deputies which will be closely observed.

Among the elected officials, several French people should indeed speak.

François-Xavier Bellamy, of the Republicans, Jordan Bardella for the National Rally, and even Yannick Jadot, the environmental MEP and above all candidate for the supreme election.

Europe at the heart of a future Macron campaign?

A face-to-face with clearly politically marked opponents for which Emmanuel Macron has prepared himself while the various oppositions accuse him of not having postponed his mandate at the head of the EU, who came to telescope the presidential election.

But the Elysée officially wants to make this sequence a European event, even if it will ultimately be very Franco-French.

Emmanuel Macron never hid it.

He intends to put Europe front and center again in his very likely future campaign.
