On Tuesday afternoon, the political board in Örebro municipality announced that the municipal board had determined that not enough signatures had been received to raise the issue of a referendum on the public transport system BRT.

- We can state that there is not enough support for the issue of a referendum to be raised in the municipal council.

It also means that previous decisions to introduce BRT are honored and respected and which were also taken in broad agreement and with a clear majority, says John Johansson (S) Chairman of the Municipal Board, in the press release.

Ahead of the municipal board meeting, the Moderates announced that they support a referendum and want the issue to be decided before the 2022 regular election.

- I believe that there is reason to approve the number of votes to raise the issue of a referendum in the material submitted by the People's Initiative, says Anders Åhrlin, Opposition Council (M), in the press release.

The People's Initiative is too serious to neglect the way the Social Democrats do.
