The fire which broke out on Wednesday January 5 in an apartment in the Cité des Rosiers, in Marseille, claimed a second small victim.

The five-year-old girl died from her burns, according to information from

La Provence

.

Seven people were present in the apartment when the fire broke out shortly before 8 a.m., on the ninth and penultimate floor of the building.

A seriously burned four-year-old child succumbed to his injuries on the spot during his medical treatment.

A priori, no link with the state of the building

In addition to the five-year-old girl, a three-year-old child, a one-month-old baby, and three adults suffered burns and/or varying degrees of discomfort from the fumes.

Two days after the fire, the Marseille prosecutor Dominique Laurens indicated in a press release that "the first findings [allow] to establish that the fire [is] declared and then spread from the sofa placed in the center of the main room ".

She did not make the link, at this stage of the investigations, with the state of the building.
