The spread of infection sets employment for inmates

In the last seven days, Kumla municipality has had a spread of 23.51 cases per 1,000 inhabitants.

This can be compared with Örebro which has the highest number of 25.51 and Degerfors which has the lowest of 10.93.

Ten percent

At Kumlaanstalten, which has about 450 employees, staff absence is about ten percent.

- We have staff who are at home both because they are infected and because they are in relative quarantine, says Markus Winberg who jumps in as deputy head of the prison service.

Canceled employment

The inmates at the institution are obliged every day to participate in so-called employment in the industry that is conducted in the area where they manufacture the interior for the cells that are in the country's various prisons.

- Due to the lack of staff, we have today had to cancel that employment and our staff who are usually there have instead had to support and work with the safety of the departments.
