The Älvsborg Bridge in Gothenburg was closed at midnight due to very strong winds.

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, there is no forecast when it can reopen.

The shutdown will apply until the strong winds have subsided.

The Öresund Bridge has not been closed, but a warning has been issued that wind-sensitive vehicles are recommended not to drive on the bridge.

The Uddevalla bridge is closed to heavy traffic and cars with trailers.

Train traffic canceled

Train traffic in the counties of Skåne, Halland, Västra Götaland, Blekinge, Jönköping, Kalmar and parts of Östergötaland has been suspended.

The Swedish Transport Administration refers passengers to the respective train company for information on alternative routes.

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, traffic has been suspended because there is a risk that trees may fall over the tracks.

- We make this decision to ensure that no trains will be left with passengers and that passengers can plan their journey in another way as early as possible, says Annika Canaki, department manager at the Swedish Transport Administration in a press release.

Trees across several paths

Several roads in Jämtland County have been closed during the night due to the strong winds and are expected to be closed until Monday morning.

During the night, several trees fell over roads and stopped traffic in larger parts of southern Sweden, most reports are from Västra Götaland.

Shortly after 2 o'clock, the Swedish Transport Administration had just over 20 reports of trees blocking roads in the county.
