On the 17th local time, UN Secretary-General Guterres delivered a video speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

He said that due to factors such as the epidemic, supply chains, and inflation, the global recovery is slowing sharply, threatening the achievement of the UN 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Guterres said that without immediate action to support developing countries, inequality and poverty will deepen, leading to greater social unrest and more violence.

He urged the world to treat the epidemic fairly and justly, reform the financial system, and support developing countries to actively participate in climate action.

In particular, Guterres pointed out that there is still a long way to go from the WHO announced last year that 40% of the global population will be vaccinated against the new crown by the end of 2021, and 70% of the global population will be vaccinated by mid-2022.

"The Covid-19 vaccination rate in high-income countries is shamefully seven times higher than in African countries," he said.

Guterres reiterated his call for vaccine equity, giving countries and manufacturers priority to supply the United Nations vaccine program with Covid-19 vaccines, and supporting virus testing and local production of vaccines and treatments around the world.

He called on pharmaceutical companies to share production licenses, patents and technologies with other countries, so that the world can get rid of the epidemic as soon as possible.

He called for the inequalities and injustices that continue to be replicated, leaving tens of millions of people living in poverty and ill health.

He hopes 2022 will be a real recovery moment.
