The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center also said it was monitoring huge waves in the area: "This could be another eruption of the Tonga volcano."

  On the 14th and 15th, a volcanic eruption occurred on the Hongahaapai Island in the South Pacific island country of Tonga, and a tsunami was observed in the capital Nuku'alofa.

Tsunami warnings were issued for Japan, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Vanuatu, Australia and Chile.
